Michael O'Connell has been making fine furniture full time since 1996. Combining a passion for design with an interest in the technical and sculptural aspects of working with wood, O'Connell was fortunate to apprentice with the talented craftsman Bob Robinson for six years, during which time Bob and his wife, designer Dierdre Jordan founded Troscan, a company that makes exquisite contemporary furniture. By the time he left his position as senior craftsman in 2002, the company had grown to over 20 employees, and O'Connell had made numerous pieces that graced the finest showrooms in the country. In the six years since, O'Connell has furthered his craft and design experience, working on everything from the refined veneer of the Maxine Snider Tansu Chest, to the curvilinear solid mahogany handrail and ornate relief carving for the Frangias house. O'Connell's informed design sensibility and attention to detail are the mark of a craftsman who brings extensive experience to every piece he makes.
